Evolutionary Computation for Intelligent Transportation in Smart Cities: A Survey [Review Article]

As the population in cities continues to increase, large-city problems, including traffic congestion and environmental pollution, have become increasingly serious. The construction of smart can relieve promote economic growth, improve quality life for citizens. Intelligent transportation is one most important issues that aims make safe, efficient, environmentally friendly. There exist many optimization problems achieve intelligent transportation, them contain large-scale data complex features challenge traditional methods. With powerful search efficiency, evolutionary computation has been widely used solve these problems. In this paper, a two-layer taxonomy introduced review research cities. first layer, related studies are classified into three categories (land, air, sea transportation) based on application scene problem. second (government, business, citizen perspectives) objective problem further classification. A detailed presented taxonomy. Future directions open also discussed inspire researchers.
